This rug is woven in the Afghan/Pakistan border area using hand spun wools knotted on to a strong cotton foundation. Colours are soft and mellow and have a 'broken' or variegated look to them rather than solid blocks of colour. This is due to the skill of the weaver and the subsequent washing processes.
Using local hand spun wools these rugs are deliberately cut quite tight in the pile thereby giving a crisp definition to the geometric design. However they are nonetheless very hardwearing and so are ideal suited anywhere in the home.
This unusual rug measures 4 feet 11 inches long by 3 feet 2 inches wide. ( 1.50 x 0.96 metres ).
