This runner is woven in the Afghan/Pakistan border area using hand spun wools knotted on to a strong cotton foundation. Colours are soft and mellow and have a 'broken' or variegated look to them rather than solid blocks of colour. This is due to the skill of the weaver and the subsequent washing processes.
Using local hand spun wools these runners are deliberately cut quite tight in the pile thereby giving a crisp definition to the geometric design. However they are nonetheless very hardwearing and so are ideal suited anywhere in the home.
This exquisite and very unusual sized runner measures 14 feet long by 4 feet wide ( 4.25 x 1.20 metres ). Yes, those measurements are correct.
