This fine tribal Afghan piece includes all of the 3 major weaving types; piled weaving, soumak weaving and kilim weaving. Each of these types of weaving is done by hand but each type is a totally different and unique process.
Only this fine example is multi coloured with bright vibrant orange, red, purple, green, blues, pink, and yellow.
Another useful feature of these rugs is their size and shape. The rug can be used as a decorative hanging on a wall or a chimney breast as well as being used as a throw over items of furniture or even as a bedspread/decoration.
Two pictures showing the owner ( James Durrant ) purchasing this kilim.
This unusual flat woven wool piece measures 7 feet 6 inches long by 5 feet 1 inch wide (2.29 x .56 metres).
