This thick hand knotted rug has a 100% wool pile woven on to a wool foundation. Colours are bright and cheerful, typical of this type of weaving with reds, blues, cream some green, gold and even orange.

Colours reflect the bright clothing that the settled tribespeople that weave these rugs wear.

This is a particularly good example with a lovely thick deep pile and a very nice design featuring stylised trees plants and flowers.

This tribal rug from Shiraz in South Western Iran measures 5 feet 1 inch long by 3 feet 10 inches wide. (1.55 x 1.17 metres).
